Dac thanks for asking about "HOW's the writing going?"
I have several books in process now, normal way of attempting to work creatively, and I am using individual BLOGS to share the roughs of chapters
Motorcycling Around Europe Using a Euro Pass
1977 110 trip to and through 24 countries in the UK
Europe, Eastern Europe, Greece and Egypt
MELT THEM DOWN
a sequel to BROKEN CRAYONS (1995)
MY ENDLESS SPRING
2003 trip completely around the northern hemisphere
in 84 days

So Many Roads Taken,
Maybe Too Many
57+ years, 8 careers, 49 jobs
and the one this blog is about
BROKEN CRAYONS,
THE MISSING CHAPTERS
Broken Crayons as a metaphor
or analogy for Hurting or Damaged People
Vincent van Gogh and many architects, designers, writers, inventors I have read about since I was a child or have met
and possibly worked with in the past 57 years who
LOST THEIR PASSION
some like Vincent eventually ended their lives
or destroyed themselves: physically, emotional, socially, professionally, financially
Jackson Pollock comes to mind.
Some personal friends who SIMPLY WALKED AWAY
some returned,
some simple disappeared
or left the professions
they had loved so intensely or zealously.
Vincent's life has been a constant analogy of me
to not allow myself to become so
ZEALOUS
I lose myself.
Many years in-between careers or professions or Passions
I used some 360 degree questionnaires to try to help me find answers from about 50 people I knew then that I thought knew me
friends, peers, colleagues, clients.....no relatives
I will not dwell on my families as fodder for this book
too many are still alive.
But at the same time I will use famous examples such as
Vincent
Jackson
Walt Disney
Frank Lloyd Wright (birth and his 1st marriage families)
and others whose families became a source of PROBLEMS
for them or they blamed their families for their own FAILURES.
I have degrees in
Architecture
Interior Architecture
Visual Communication
Guidance & Counseling
Educational Psychology
I am now 73 years old
The content of this book will mostly be generated or created using my experiences, learnings, thoughts, hopefully making useful sense to the READER.
I have been a SEARCHER not a Re-Searcher since 1983,
actually since my birth.
Often what and who/whom are called Re-Searchers
are too often PILERS of STOLEN IDEAS & MATERIAL
from others Ph.D. Piled Higher and Deeper.
Dr. E. Paul Torrance my greatest teacher, mentor and extremely supportive friend the last 20 years of his life on Earth said the following when he came out of the Examination Room in Aderhold Hall in the Fall of 1983 after I had verbally DEFENDED my Dissertation FINALLY.
"Congratulations Dr. Black."
most important time that title ever meant anything to me
"You Speak better than you Write."
"My only concern for you is that this will be your last actual research study."
He was almost correct.
I have done a variety of basic studies but nothing of the quality or quantity of my MEISTER LIEBER/MASTER TEACHER Dr. T.
After I left my teaching position at UGA in 1984
I tried to conduct research projects
but most were very basic
nothing in-depth or of the quality of Dr. T's 50+ years or true RESEARCH.
I chose to become a SEARCHER, an EXPLORER, a WANDERER, looking for answers to questions
that I hope some other true RESEARCHER would study.
Come along with me as I write my thoughts of 73 years in this book.
As another of my mentors and friends, OZ SWALLOW from South Africa guided me back in 1998 when I asked
WHAT MIGHT I DO NEXT TO GROW?
"Write, write, write until you can write no more."
"Then you will be truly ready to learn anew."
